2. John M'millan [033] was born about 1749 in Kintyre, AR, SCT. According to descendants John was born in 1749 and, according to his gravestone (from which that date of birth may come) was a native of "Cantyre, Scotland". He died on 7 Jan 1807 in Robeson Co. NC, USA. Emig. sometime between 1760 & 1780. There is no proof that this John McMillan was the brother of the Archibald McMillan who married Margaret Murphy, the sister of John's wife Catherine Murphy - but family tradition asserts it. John M'millan [033] and Catherine Murphy were married estimated 1775 in SCT or USA. Catherine Murphy (daughter of Murdock Murphy and Jennet Unknown) was born about 1753. She died on 7 Sep 1825 in USA. Catherine Murphy was sister of the Margaret Murphy who married Archibald M'millan, possible brother of John M'millan - according to "Genealogy of the Murphy Family" by Capt. William Wallace McMillan (as reported in email from Robert McMillan, AL, USA).
