3. Gilbert M'millan [033] was born estimated 1750 in SCT. He died estimated 1795 in NC ?, USA. Called John in some genealogies
BIOGRAPHY: Diary of William Wallace McMillan:
"My g. grandfather was accompanied to America by his brother Gilbert, (crossed out and John substituted in another hand), most of whose descendants still reside in the southern part of N. Carolina. Gilbert (again John substituted) McMillan, the brother of my g. grandfather married a McKinnon." The g. grandfather to which he referred was Archibald McMillan. The 2 brothers reportedly came to America about the year 1760.

Reverand Murdock Murphy (1777-1833) states: Nov 29th, 1817
"By the Star, a N Carolina paper that I recieve, I read of the death of Alexdr. McMillan who was last summer elected to congress. HE WAS OF DISTANT RELATION and a very true friend- for a number of years.... HE WAS RAISED BY MY UNCLE AND HIS ARCHIBALD MCMILLAN. His parents died when he was a child without any property and a large family, all who have done well Alxder. The deceased recieved from the care of his uncle a good english education to which was added an aquaintence of the Latin classics...".

Gilbert M'millan [033] and Sarah? M'kinnon were married estimated 1780 in SCT or NC, USA. BIOGRAPHY: Microfilm cy of diary of Dr W. W. McMillan located at Samford Univ,Birmingham AL:'
The McKinnon's and McRea's are numerous families, but I am notwell enough acquainted with them to give "X" even their names. They reside inTelfair Co Ga." Gilbert M'millan [033] and Sarah? M'kinnon had the following children:

Senator Alexander McMillan was born estimated 1785 in NC ?, USA.
Member of State Senate 1810-1812, a Representative from North Carolina,
elected to the 15th Congress and served from March 4, 1817, until his death.
He was murdered on his plantation in 1817.
