Rev. John McMillan II was licensed to preach 22 Jan 1749 at Braehead and ordained Minister at Bothwell on 20 September 1750 (according to his family bible).

Rev. John (2nd) M'millan [044] and Elizabeth Umpherston were married on 27 Dec 1749 in Pentland, SCT. Elizabeth Umpherston was born estimated 1745 in SCT ?. She died on 24 Feb 1765 in Pentland, SCT. Daughter of Charles Umpherston, surgeon in Pentland Charles Umpherston, surgeon in Pentland, wrote a pamphlet called "Observations on a Wolf in a Sheepskin" (1753) in which is recounted the last words of Rev. John McMillan I on his deathbed in November 1753. Rev. John (2nd) M'millan [044] and Elizabeth Umpherston had the following children:

17	vi.	Andrew M'millan [044] was born on 27 May 1760 in Pentland, SCT. He died about 1837 in Glasgow, LA, SCT. Merchant in Glasgow Andrew's Trust Disposition and Settlement reveals much about the family - see NAS, SC.36/51/13.
